Equity

Equity and special education are important to me, and I believe in the right of every child to be educated and supported for their needs. In my professional learning I have taken online courses that focused on mainstreaming and inclusive education. At schools, I have worked closely with Student Services teams including learning support teachers, socioemotional counsellors, social workers and administration to develop IEPs and transition plans. In my classroom I have strived to build an environment of equity and community, where students understand that fairness means each student getting what they need to succeed. With my grade level team, I have collaboratively developed PSPE plans that tie together character education, digital citizenship, equity and conflict resolution, and suggestions from Student Services to support the socioemotional needs of all students in my class.
